An excellent addition to any home entertainment system would be a satellite dish. While a satellite can provide you with an excellent signal and an unlimited amount of television options, it is important that you follow five different tips to ensure that the satellite is positioned properly.
When looking to install your satellite dish you will first need to point it in the right direction. Satellites need to generally be pointed south, but depending on where in the country you live it may need to be pointed slightly southwest or slightly southeast.
When you position your satellite you will also need to ensure that you have a clean line of sight. When installing the dish be sure that the satellite dish is not obstructed by anything else on your home or your yard. If you have a tall tree in the way it may be a good idea to either put the dish on the roof of your home or cut down some of the branches in the way.
To ensure that it remains functional throughout the year, you should also ensure that you install some protective barrier above it. Building a protective barrier above the dish will prevent rain from hitting it and snow and ice from accumulating on it in the winter.
Once a proper position is selected you will need to ensure that it is property fastened. It would be best to use some power tools to ensure the nuts and bolts are as tight as possible. If they are even slightly loose the entire satellite dish could sway during windy storms.
After the dish is properly installed you will need to fine-tune the dish and the settings. Most of this can be done inside through your television by using the remote control which was provided by the satellite TV provider.
